In addition to this, most of the home remedies are comparatively cheaper than doctors’ fees and medical bill that you have to bear every time to go to the hospital. Here are some of the sore throat cures that have proven to be very effective for most of the people:

Salt Water:

Among the easiest and most commonly used sore throat remedies, warm salt water is probably the most effective one. All you need to take half a glass of water, add half a teaspoon of salt in it and warm it a little in the oven. Take a sip of this warm water, gurgle it thoroughly in your mouth and throat, and then spit the water out. Since the water will be too salty, it is preferable that you do not swallow it – repeat the procedure after every half an hour or so and make sure it is the last thing you do before going to sleep. You will feel a soothing effect in your throat every time you gurgle and your throat will feel much better after the first couple of times. If the infection is not very bad, you will be able to recover from it in a few days by this simple process.

Pineapple Juice:

Pineapple can be a natural cure for the viral infections like a sore throat or flu because it has lactones that help the immune system of the body get stronger and fight against the virus attack. Cold pineapple juice is also used for gurgles as a sore throat cure but it may not be very effective especially if the virus has gotten very strong in your throat. In such a case, you can use other fruits like apple, which have stronger iron content in order to boost your immune system.

Green Tea:

Herbal green tea is among the best sore throat remedies because it works in multiple ways in your body; it revitalizes your brain thus reducing the overall feeling of depression that a person goes through when he is sick. In addition to this, it soothes the soreness of the throat and reduces the overall itchiness; since it does not have any kind of side effect, you can have as many cups of green tea as you want without having to worry about gaining weight or increasing your blood pressure.

Honey and Lemon:

Mixing honey and lemon in a warm glass of water and having it after every hour can be very effective for a sore throat; honey is a natural medicine against viral infection and should therefore be used on regular basis as soon as the weather begins to change. It can protect you from getting cough or flu in the first place. You can also have warm chicken soup form time to time to reduce the itchiness being caused by the sore throat.

Vaporization:

Vaporizing your room in general can help you bring better and at the same time kill any germs that are in the air. This not only helps in reducing the risk of someone else catching your virus but it also makes you feel better by comforting your throat.

In addition to all the remedies, you need to take some precautionary measures as well in order for you to get rid of your sore throat quickly; firstly make sure that you do not smoke or sit in the company of smokers while you are sick. Smoking aggravates the itching in your throat and so your cough gets worse no matter what remedy you try. In addition to this, keep your chest covered with a warm jacket or a muffler in winters so that you are able to breathe properly during flu and sore throat. If you do not wear enough warm clothes, your body is forced to spend more energy in keeping you warm and so your immune system does not work that efficiently.
