There are many diseases that cause sore throat. When one talks about the diseases, The Symptoms of sore throat include pharyngitis which is the inflammation of the pharynx that is the area situated behind the mouth and upper area of the trachea and esophagus and the pharyngitis patient is unable to swallow anything, second is epiglottis in which is caused due to infection of the epiglottis which is the flap of the larynx and covers it, resulting in a sore throat but this is rare one. Another Symptom of sore throat is laryngitis in which the larynx which is the voice box and helps in voice production is infected or inflamed which results in a sore throat. Another is the tonsillitis which is the swelling of the tonsils which are located near tongue and thus sore throat occurs. These all diseases mentioned result in a sore throat. The sore throat is caused due to inflammation which is caused by microbes especially the viruses and bacteria which cause these diseases. Some viruses like those which cause cold result in sore throat similarly the viruses which cause the respiratory diseases or infections also cause sore throat.
There is a term strep throat that is also sore throat is caused by bacteria streptococcus pyogenic and the person suffers from strep throat and these bacteria targets the throat. This disease can spread with the patients contact like through nasal secretion or salivary secretions. Sore throat may be caused due to some chemical injected or taken in. like smoke of the cigarette.it is also caused due to some injury which further on results in inflammation and infection. Similarly these chemicals may include some of the medicines or drugs which result in the sore throat as these chemicals or drugs are taken to treat a disease and it is somehow we could say the side effect of that certain drug that it causes sore throat. Certain rays like UV rays can also cause this sore throat. Usually the sore throat results in symptoms like fever, swollen lymph nodes of the neck. There is not a single symptom but the symptoms vary with the type of disease the person is having it may include nausea, headache, loss of appetite and the biggest symptom is the difficulty in swallowing, Runny nose and redness of eyes sometimes.
These all are the symptoms of sore throat but while treating the disease that cause sore throat one should keep in mind that first the disease which is particularly causing the sore throat should be diagnosed. The person suffering from sore throat cannot speak properly and easily due to infection similarly he has a difficulty in swallowing food.in severe cases the patient is unable to drink as well like in case of severe pharyngitis the person cannot even drink. Difficulty in breathing is also one of the sign of sore throat. The person with a sore throat cannot breathe properly at times due to infection in some area. Cough is also a sign. Similarly there is a feeling of discomfort for the patient as he or she does not feel comfortable and easy. These all are the signs and symptoms of the diseases that cause sore throat which may be identified and treated accordingly.
